Since its foundation, ASA works
on identifying cultural and artistic needs in the Lebanese society and
addressing these needs by designing and implementing appropriate programs
and projects. A number of programs and projects have been initiated so
far.
Audiovisual society (AVS)
The program is aimed at independent local audio-visual artists and students.
Through a yearly low-cost membership formula, they can make use of a filming
and editing equipment made available by the program, to create their own
audio-visual material. The program also offers training on the use of
the equipment and technical workshops on filmmaking.(more..)
The Other
“The Other” aims at providing an educational model promoting
the values of diversity and tolerance in a surrounding based on cultural
and social diversity and using artistic production as a means of expression.
The “Other” provides a space for dialogue between young people
of different social and cultural backgrounds where relevant ideas are
shared and exchanged. It gives the youth the opportunity to participate
in the cultural and democratic development of their society, and engages
them in the sharing of ideas and experiences in discussions while involving
them in a joint effort to produce art work based on understanding and
acceptance of the other.(more..)
The Animation and Comic Book Forum
Animation Film and Comic Book making are rising interests in the Arab
and the Mediterranean regions. Those artistic forms of expression are
booming, at both the higher education level, among students in graphic
design or film, and at the professional level, where new opportunities
are rising up in the market and where such medium attracts experimentation.
Nevertheless, there is little networking and exchange between artists
in animation film and comic book making in the region, let alone professional
training. Most artists today are struggling to teach themselves animation
and comic book making, and many times the lack of orientation, exchange
and research prevents them from developing their work. There is also a
lack in venues and events that target regional animation and comic book
exposure. Hence, the work that is produced is not exposed properly if
at all while synergy among artists working in the field remains the exception.

6teens.com
6teens.com is a project that focuses on mutual understanding between cultures.
It is a space of exchange and expression between teenagers of selected
classrooms from countries of the north, south and east of the Mediterranean.
Through both class collaboration and a personal involvement, students
will submit work, critique, and discuss specific issues related to understanding
of the other and cultural exchange.
